Abell Corporation, a closely held family corporation, opened Ouachita Liquid Fertilizer Company (OFC) in 1955. OFC is headquartered in Monroe, LA and blends fluid fertilizer for retail distribution to farm customers throughout Louisiana. One of their production facilities is located in New Iberia, LA. This location is our choice for agriculture feature facility.

In the winter of 2008, Junge Control installed products to automate the plant. Batch mag meters, paddle wheel meters, control panels, touchscreen control, and automated paper flow were the products/features installed to make this facility more efficient.

Before the installation of Junge Control, Inc. products, there were inventory problems, shrink, and employee turnover. Dave Junge, owner of Junge Control, Inc. spoke with Kim Coker, Fertilizer Group Vice President for Abell Corporation about automation of facilities. From there, Jeff Gore, Sales Manager of Junge Control, Inc. discussed the opportunities for plant efficiency with Howard West, Operations Manager for Abell Corporation, Mike Moritz, Assistant Operations Manager for Abell Corporation, Todd Mingues, Production Manager for Ouachita Fertilizer, and Todd Romero, Shipping Manager for Ouachita Fertilizer.

Since those initial discussions, Ouachita Fertilizer's operations have changed. Before the installation of Junge Control's systems, one person had to run each control panel and after one person runs all panels. Before all products were brought in one ingredient at a time and weighed and now all products can be brought in simultaneously. A 24 ton batch was done in 25 minutes before and now is done in only 19 minutes. Mike Moritz, Assistant Operations Manager at Ouachita Fertilizer stated, "Junge Control's automated systems exceeded all expectations and we are very satisfied with the accuracy, speed, and ease of operation."
